Closure of international borders with India and China for general elections

International borders with neighboring countries India and China have been closed from Thursday midnight for the general elections. The government has closed all the checkpoints for the House of Representatives and State Assembly member elections to be held on November 20.

Until the voting is over, the traffic will be closed except in urgent cases. Although Nepal and India have open borders, only certain border crossings are open with China. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that all the checkpoints will remain closed throughout the election period. The administration office of the border district has issued a notice that the checkpoints are going to be closed in order to conduct the elections in a clean, transparent, free, dignified and fear-free environment.
